Yes, there is adequate of parking for guests along the main driveway. We do ask the front of the house is kept clear of vehicles, with the exception of disabled parking, to allow access for photographers and emergency vehicles.  There is additional parking at The Stables for those that have booked accommodation.

At peak times, our parking attendants will be on hand to assist you.  Cars are parked and left at your own risk.

Yes, you must pre-book a taxi in advance.  Grittleton is a rural location with no passing traffic.  Ubers are not available in this area, and taxis must be pre-booked.

Grittleton House is a private wedding venue, it is not a Hotel.  We do have onsite accommodation comprising of House Bedrooms and Stables Bedrooms.  All our onsite accommodation MUST be booked and coordinated through the wedding couple. 

Guests attending a wedding:

Check in is typically from 16:00 on the Wedding Date.  It is not usually possible to access your room in advance of check in.   

Check out is 10.30am, we are not able to offer a later check out time.

Please check with your wedding party re their specific check in times.

All our luxury House bedrooms are individually designed and marry a traditional elegance with contemporary style. All bathrooms are equipped with toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.  There is a hairdryer in each room, and a shared iron and ironing board for guests’ use.  Each room has tea and coffee making facilities and a snack basket.

Our Stables Bedrooms are more moderately priced, but still offer the same toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities.  There is no hairdryer in the Stables rooms.

There are several local alternatives for accommodation within the village, please see our stay page for a list of independent local accommodation.

All cars and parked and left overnight at the car owners risk.   Cars left overnight must be collected by 11am the following morning.  Please note if there is no event at the House, the main gates will close at 11am, and it may not be possible to gain access.

Chippenham station is well-served by trains and there are direct train links to and from London Paddington (via Reading and Newbury), London Waterloo and Glasgow and Edinburgh (via Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol).

By train, we are just over 1 hour 15 minutes from London Paddington, 3 hours from Birmingham International and just 1 hour from Bristol Temple Meads.

Grittleton House is 7 miles from Chippenham train station, taxis are available at the exit, the journey by taxi is approximately 15- 20 minutes. 

We have wheelchair ramps throughout the ground floor, however due the House being a grade 2 listed building we do not have lift facilities to the first floor. We have a large ground floor toilet with wide easy access and plenty of space.  We can’t however call it a disabled toilet as it doesn’t have an emergency pull cord, grab rails or a raised seat.

Absolutely, it is a fabulous part of your day.  We only permit the use of natural confetti, rose petals or bio-degradable paper confetti only. 

 

Yes, our beautiful mahogony library bar is located at the centre of the house. Our well stocked bar and staff are included within the hire of the house. Typically, the bar opens an hour before a civil ceremony or as your first guests arrive at the house from a church ceremony. The bar closes 30 minutes prior to the end of the party.

The bar takes both cash & card payments.

A standard event will finish at midnight. All events are on an individual basis, your access arrangements will be confirmed at time of booking.

If you require a later finish, we offer an extension until 2am, this is at an additional cost. All extensions are granted on an individual basis, please check before booking.

Yes, if you require additional overflow accommodation, glamping is a great seasonal option.  Please note Glamping is only permitted once all onsite accommodation has been booked.  No Tents, motorhomes or campervans are permitted on site.

The Glamping Tents do not have power and you will also be required to hire a toilet and shower block.  We are partnered with a great glamping company who can provide these services.  Please refer to our preferred suppliers list. 

 

We want you to enjoy your stay, until the very last minute. Non-residents are very welcome to join your for breakfast, any additional guests must be booked and paid for in advance.
