Historic Cotswolds Venue Grittleton House joins the Gin Revolution
Today we have the lovely Emma Horrex from Grittleton House, a gorgeous historical venue in Wiltshire, telling us all about the recent launch of its new Gin Club for weddings. Grittleton House is a privately owned Victorian manor dating back to the early 1830s, which currently is run as both a venue and a family home, and – for now – remains one of the best kept secrets in the Cotswolds.
Brides and grooms can hire the house for a day or, with the ‘Yours for a weekend' package, can opt for the ultimate 3 days exclusivity experience. Wedding breakfast capacity for 2018 is 126 guests in the red Gallery, with a further 126 in the yellow gallery if required. New for 2019 is The Orangery seating up to 200. With plenty of outdoor space, there is plenty of opportunities for a marquee, seating 300-500 guests. The Old Stables provides its own accommodation on the estate for up to 44 guests. Stunning staterooms, Mahogany Library, Orangery & Gardens, it really is a hideaway of a lifetime.
As if this wasn’t enough, guests will now have access to an exclusive ‘Gin Club' membership! The new offering is tuned in to the 'Gin Revolution' which has swept the UK, and has become increasingly popular amongst the discernible drinkers of the age-old spirit. In particular, bespoke cocktail and drink experiences are increasingly being seen on the ‘experiential’ weddings scene, adding to the guests’ truly unique and memorable journey through your wedding day.
Emma, would you kindly tell us a bit more about what this is?
‘Gin Club' membership is open to all guests throughout the duration of their stay. The wide selection of gins can be paired with the tonic of the member's choice, served with the appropriate garnish and lots of ice. Simply pick up your gin card, start collecting your stamps and become part of this very popular community – purchase five gin and tonics and receive your sixth for free!
Could you tell us a bit more about the range of gins that you offer?
This historic Wiltshire Manor House offers an unmatched selection of gin styles to its wedding parties. A range of gins are now available including such favourites as: Bombay Sapphire, Hendricks and Plymouth, alongside other artisan and more exclusive varieties such as Sharish Blue Magic, Opihr, Slingsby Rhubarb, Conker and Williams Elegant.
Will guests that are unfamiliar with gin be able to ask for some advice?
Our trained bartenders at 'The Gin Club' will be able to guide guests through the varieties on offer, from fruity to herbaceous to floral to citrus to spiced and of course the classic juniper flavours. We take time to listen to our guests and review our gins regularly.
Do you have some favourites to recommend for our couples?
For couples celebrating their special day, or for those who are simply swept along in the romantic atmosphere, Eden Mill Love is expected to be a popular choice. For the ladies, Larios Rose pink gin could be a contender for the most appealing tipple.
Do you have any upcoming events where our couples can come try this for themselves?
Following the success of our Ultimate Gin Evening last September, we are thrilled to be hosting (in association with Matthew Clark) our very first Gin Club Event, on July 13th. Lots of gin to taste, expert advice, complimentary snacks and LIVE music from the Shadow Monkeys. Visit our website for full details and how to purchase tickets. Hope to see you very soon!
This all sounds absolutely fabulous – we’ll definitely be watching this space!
